The 5 technical reports associated with this project develop a framework for improving data and knowledge management through a move to a more objective-led approach. Technical Reports 1-4 describe the tools and techniques developed within this project whilst TR5 presents a good practice guide for effective implementation of the project outputs. It will be of use to managers, suppliers and users of FCERM information both within and outside the FCERM industry.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE

To promote better availability, understanding and use of data, information and knowledge management tools. To carry out a review to scope the requirements for, and benefits of, a Knowledge Management Programme to support flood and coastal risk management decision-making.

KEY

CUSTOMER PURPOSE

Previous R&D (

FD2314)

has described a ‘best practice’ model of the data lifecycle, and has explored the key principles that should be followed. This R&D project is now needed to put these into practice and into widespread use in the flood and coastal management community.
