SC020076 - Development of Flood Warning Management System Phase 2

Theme:Incident Management and Community
Project status:Completed
Start date:01/10/2002
End date:30/11/2004
  • HR Wallingford

The project comprised 3 elements:
i) Identification and documentation of current flood warning business processes;
ii) A survey of international good practice in this field; and
iii) A business case for development of a flood warning management system.

The Protocols are presented and discussed fully in the R&D Technical Report, to which the Outline Modelling Specification is included as an appendix. An interactive Word proforma setting out the Protocol statements and checklist questions in tabular format has also been developed, and is being made
available on the EA’s intranet.

The main technical information and research findings from this project are contained in one technical report. The report provides recommendations for the definition and implementation of performance measures for the Environment Agency’s flood forecasting capability. It is intended mainly for the use of Environment Agency staff involved in operational real-time flood forecast modelling, but would also be of interest to others involved in the assessment of flood forecasting systems.
