SC100001 - Developing an International Levee Management Manual

Theme:Asset Management
Project status:Completed
Start date:05/11/2010
End date:25/11/2014

The International Levee Handbook is a collection of good practice, offering comprehensive guidance on the design, construction, maintenance and improvement of levees (flood embankments). It describes the international state of the art on these matters. It offers a decision support framework for competent engineers, rather than a prescriptive decision making code of practice, looking at specific challenges during the life cycle of levees.

We have worked collaboratively with international partners, to ensure that the Handbook is relevant to the types of flood embankment that the Environment Agency, private owners and other operating authorities manage in the UK.
