PROJECT CLOSING STATEMENT


The research report is a discussion of issues and should not be considered as a statement of policy or best practice. The recommendations from the work will be taken into account in development of future guidance and the work should provide users with a better understanding of the basis for current guidance when faced with alternative proposals for approaches to evaluation.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:


This project shall seek to identify the key benefits and disadvantages of adopting consistent flood defence standards drawing on experience at selected sites where inconsistent standards have been reported as an issue.

CUSTOMER PURPOSE:


Current methods of appraising standards of flood defence can lead to varying levels of protection across a community, benefiting affluent areas at the expense of poorer communities.
