This project investigated various methods for improving the cost-effectiveness of beach nourishment (adding shingle to beaches) and beach management schemes. Experiments were conducted at two sites in Kent trialling different types of recharge materials and various ways for placing materials. Key findings were that it was better to use coarse recharge material twice yearly as erosion rates were reduced, and leave the action of the sea to distribute, saving both time and money.
