SC120013 - Investigating and Appraising Approaches for Involving More Communities and Partners in Flood Incident Management

Theme:Policy, Strategy & Investment
Project status:Completed
Start date:11/02/2013
End date:18/05/2015

This project describes the findings of work to develop a consistent approach to evaluating the benefits of working with volunteers as part of flood and coastal risk management (FCRM) activities in England.

Volunteers add value to flood risk management activities by building community resilience and preparedness that is helping to make communities more self-reliant. Use of volunteers brings benefits to the Environment Agency, its partner organisations, local communities and the volunteers themselves.

This research is helping the Environment Agency, and partners, to understand how it can best work with volunteers.
