This project was designed to provide a detailed understanding of the ways in which the 'at risk' flood warning is interpreted by the public, and how they respond. Findings included evidence that members of the public take action in accordance with the severity of the warning given, however they may not act in the early stages of a warning. A small precentage would take no action, even with a severe warning. Information may need to be tailored more towards this group, and to respond to differences in response by geographical area by making warnings more area-specific.
