PROJECT SUMMARY

CIRIA  have produced a new guide for lead local flood authorities (LLFAs). The guide highlight approaches for communication and engagement for local flood risk management.

It is free to download from CIRIA’s website.

LLFAs are responsible for managing local flood risk. This includes risk from surface runoff, groundwater and ordinary watercourses. CIRIA brought together experience and ideas from practitioners across the flood and coastal erosion risk management industry. The new CIRIA guide shares good practice that has been tried and tested. It will help to communicate and engage effectively with the public on local flood risk management. The guide will also assist communication teams, flood risk managers, drainage engineers and planners in LLFAs, local authorities and water companies.

Supporting LLFAs as part of our Strategic Overview role, we contributed to this guide by sharing our experiences and case studies in communicating flood risk and drawing on our approach for ‘working with others’.
